We caught up with Michael Thompson, Director of Marketing, and the team at the University of Suffolk to learn more about what this recognition means for them - and how they achieved such impressive growth.
What does winning the Growth Award mean for the team?
It’s a wonderful recognition of the hard work all the team at the University of Suffolk has put into growing our thriving community of international students.
What specific actions or changes did you make this year that contributed to such significant growth in international student interest?
We ensured a truly joined-up approach from awareness to enrolment to graduation, by working with our teams to ensure the best possible experience for our international students.
Can you share an example of a challenge you faced while growing, and how you overcame it?
We do not have access to a large bank of international alumni stories, but quickly found that by offering a great student experience our international students were happy to become ambassadors for us.
What advice would you give to other universities looking to scale their international student numbers?
Get the student experience right. The University of Suffolk has just won University of the Year 2025 at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards - voted for by these students.
And finally… if your admissions process was a movie, which movie would it be?
First Man – always looking to innovate to make the student experience better and never settling. Enroly shares similar values, which we respect.
